A Postcard A Day - Friday 15 April 2016 - A Giggle a Day Keeps the Blues Away

Good Morning lovely friends,

You are visiting my page! Thank you, it means a lot to me.

Today is Friday (as if you didn't know) and today we think of all the smiles we have had this week.
My big smiles have come from the building work. We have nearly finished building a flat at the top of our house. We moved in after Easter. This is the view from the living room/kitchen:

Last weekend the railings were erected on the terrace. You can see them in the above photo. Next thing will be a sun shade. In the summer it is too hot to sit outside without shade. So next month my DH will erect a frame and put some 'green stuff' over it to keep the sun at bay.

On the right hand side I had a 'bar' made on top of the railing so we can put our drink there or even a plate when BBQ-ing.
There is a ventilation shaft that goes through all four floors of the building and ends here on the roof. We have bought a little 'house' to make it look a bit nicer as it is right next to the terrace:
The bit of building you are looking at here is the garage and the terrace by the garage. That is partly covered.

Now for my card. This one arrived this week from Switzerland:
It was sent to me by René. It's an image from a time when flying was expensive and for many people just a dream.
The stamp is quite nice too:
75 Years Swiss Merchant Fleet. (I didn't know Switzerland had a merchant fleet, being a land-locked country).

Now let's see if I can find something funny for you to chuckle about:
I got this photo from my friend Anne. She goes to Glastonbury every year. She found this sign in a cafe on the High Street. (and has given me permission to show it you).

How's my diet going? Not very well. I'm stuck on 61 kg, have been for two weeks. But hey, my flip flops stil fit!

I'm linking up with Annie at Friday Smiles. Do join us if you can and tell us what made you smile.
Later today I will also link up (if I don't forget... apparently I forgot last week) with Virginia  at Rocking Your World Friday.

Have a fab Friday all of you and don't for get to smile!
Lisca

  1. Morning Lisca a lovely post as always, flip flops fitting is about the sum of it here too! Loving the progress on your home, the little house on top of the ventilation shaft is fabulous, do you own the whole building if you are at the top? the postcards are lovely too and who can't help but smile at piglet. Hope you have a fabulous day and weekend and week ahead.

    1. Yes, we own the whole building. It has four floors and we are working our way down. Bleow the top flat is the craft room, which is just a shell, but I have put a desk there and have been using it for a year. As soon as we are finished here in the flat (lots of little things to do) my DH will start on the craft room.)

  8. Your flat looks amazing Lisca and what a beautiful and peaceful view you have. I really like the cute little house.

The postcard is lovely and the style of the image really made me think of my childhood. I think I might be saying that about the flip flops when the summer arrives!

    Have a lovely week. Barbxx

  11. What a lovely post, Lisca. Your new house is looking stunning, and what a view! I love the little house over the ventilation shaft - how imaginative is that!! Some lovely and amusing photos too. As for the diet, I am also on a bit of a plateau at the moment - it happens, and then the weight starts to come off again - this is the danger period when most people give up, but keep pushing through and it will happen!

Thank you for your lovely comment - everyone is so kind, worrying about me overdoing things! I have been resting in between my various activities and am surviving so far. I got all the rest of the stuff back into the sitting room this p.m. and will be updating my blog later once I've sorted the photos.

Poor little Phoebe - it's so awful for her, and for us, witnessing the seizures. Hopefully she won't have another before the increased dose kicks in. She's such a little sweetie and it's awful that she has to deal with this.

I have not sung in church yet - I have spoken to the minister 3 times now and I'm waiting for him to organise it and tell me when I can do it! I am practising most days and my fingers are holding up fine. I have been using a hand exerciser too and have noticed that hand getting stronger, which is good. I am singing at a meeting on 30th April - first time I've sung for that group for ages and I'm really looking forward to it!

    Happy belated WOYWW,

  12. Hi Lisca, your terrace is looking very grand and I love the decorative little house you've fitted to the ventilation shaft - finishes it off very nicely. The image on the card from Switzerland is very nostalgic looking and I would never have guessed the Swiss had a merchant fleet either. Thought you'd like to know that I've joined Postcrossing too and just about to send off my second card. Not received one yet but it's early days. Thanks for sharing your smiles. Have a great weekend. Elizabeth xx

  13. I love that arched window, What a lovely peaceful view. The railings 'bar' is a great idea and so is the 'house' on the ventilation shaft. It was hot enough here to need the shade up for our alfresco lunch, though they have forecast rain again for the start of next week. Kate x
